Where's My Federal Refund?

 

Refund information for the most current tax year you filed will generally be available within 24 hours after the IRS acknowledges receipt of your e-filed return. If you filed a paper return, please allow 4 weeks before checking the status.

View Your IRS Account

If you're an individual taxpayer, you can use this tool to view:

  • Your payoff amount, updated for the current calendar day

  • The balance for each tax year for which you owe

  • Up to 24 months of your payment history

  • Key information from your current tax year return as originally filed.

 

Get Your Tax Record

You can get various Form 1040-series transcript types online or by mail. If you need your prior year Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) to e-file, choose the tax return transcript type when making your request. If you only need to find out how much you owe or verify payments you made within the last 18 months, you can view your tax account.

IRS Withholding Calculator

The IRS encourages everyone to use the Withholding Calculator to perform a quick “paycheck checkup.”  This is even more important this year because of recent changes to the tax law for 2018.

The Calculator helps you identify your tax withholding to make sure you have the right amount of tax withheld from your paycheck at work.

Complete this form so that your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay. Consider completing a new Form W-4 each year and when your personal or financial situation changes.

Employer ID Number (EIN)

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, and is used to identify a business entity. Generally, businesses need an EIN. You may apply for an EIN in various ways, and now you may apply online. This is a free service offered by the Internal Revenue Service and you can get your EIN immediately. You must check with your state to make sure you need a state number or charter.
