Retirement tax services & planning

From building savings to drawing retirement income.

Mraz Tax Solutions LLC provides retirement tax preparation and planning for individuals, couples, self-employed savers, and inherited-account beneficiaries. We help you understand IRA and 401(k) rules, tax-deductible contributions, retirement distributions, and the impact on your federal and state returns.

Our Enrolled Agents bring over 15 years of tax industry experience to retirement projections, Roth conversions, and complex income questions. We serve clients in Orange County and nationwide, with IRS representation available when needed.

Retirement Account Tax Review

Traditional and Roth IRAs, 401(k)s, SEP IRAs, and SIMPLE IRAs have different contribution and distribution rules. We explain how each account fits your tax situation, including workplace plan coverage, self-employment income, and the records needed to track amounts already taxed.

Deductible Contributions & Limits

We review compensation, filing status, income, and workplace retirement coverage to calculate eligible contributions and traditional IRA deductions. Contribution eligibility and deductibility are different questions. We also identify excess contributions and explain available correction options before additional taxes build up.

Distributions & Rollovers

We review Forms 1099-R, taxable withdrawals, tax withholding, and eligible rollovers. Early distributions can trigger an additional 10% tax unless an exception applies. Qualified Roth distributions have age and holding-period requirements, and a rollover needs to meet the rules for the accounts involved.

Required Minimum Distributions

RMD starting ages depend on birth year and account type; many current retirees begin at age 73. We calculate required amounts and confirm deadlines. A missed RMD can trigger a 25% excise tax, reduced to 10% for qualifying timely corrections. Roth owners generally have no lifetime RMDs.

Inherited Retirement Accounts

Many non-spouse designated beneficiaries must empty an inherited account by the end of the tenth year after the owner’s death. Annual distributions may also be required during that period. We review beneficiary status, the owner’s required beginning date, and spousal or other exceptions before determining your schedule.

Roth IRA Conversions

A Roth conversion may create taxable income now in exchange for potential tax-free qualified withdrawals later. We project the taxable amount, review nondeductible IRA basis and pro-rata rules, and consider income brackets, Medicare premiums, and available cash to pay the conversion tax.

Year-round retirement tax planning

Make each retirement decision with a tax plan.

Professional retirement tax planning connects today’s contributions and withdrawals with future income. We build projections around your accounts, household income, and the timing of important life changes.

  1. Check Catch-Up Contributions

For 2026, eligible savers age 50 or older can add $1,100 to the IRA limit. The general catch-up for most 401(k) plans is $8,000; eligible participants ages 60 through 63 may instead qualify for an $11,250 catch-up. Some high-wage employees must make 2026 catch-up contributions on a Roth basis when the plan offers a Roth feature and the applicable prior-year wage threshold is met. We assess your wages, plan provisions, age, and the tax treatment of the contributions.

  2. Use the Right Deadline for Each Account

IRA contributions generally can be made through the following year’s tax filing deadline, without extensions. Workplace salary deferrals follow payroll and plan deadlines, while some employer contributions may be allowed through an extended return deadline. RMDs and Roth conversions follow different timing rules, so one deadline does not fit every transaction.

  3. Coordinate Withdrawals with Other Income

We model how pensions, Social Security, investment income, and retirement withdrawals affect your tax brackets and possible Medicare income-related surcharges. We also review withholding, estimated payments, and eligible qualified charitable distributions. Taking two RMDs in one year after delaying your first can increase taxable income.
